About the Event

Jazz for the Soul is pleased to welcome vocalist Delphine Cortez along with Joel Robin (piano) to Spirit of Hope, along with Tony Vacca (sax/flute) and Adrian Goldenthal (bass). They present an evening of vocal jazz music, and other favorite  tunes from pop to blues.  We hope you will join us.

Delphine sings as only Delphine can!...

Delphine carries on the tradition of the great ladies of jazz, such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and her musical idol, Nancy Wilson. She performs with unique style and grace. International jazz journalist Patricia Myers said, “Delphine Cortez literally takes possession of each song so firmly that one does not think of comparing Delphine’s style to anyone else’s – Delphine sings as only Delphine can. Her voice evokes warmth and passion with remarkable depth and range.”

Pianist Joel Robin has been playing jazz piano by ear since he was nine years old. His passion for jazz and accompanying vocalists has informed his life's work and professional career. Highlights include 20 years as musical director of The Divas Show, working with and arranging for Count Basis Orchestra alumnus Dennis Rowland, a 40+ year association with Francine Reed, and his long-time collaboration with Delphine, his better half of 25 years. Joel has been a mover and shaker with the non-profit organization Jazz in Arizona since 2000, and was principally responsible for opening The Nash Jazz Club and Education Center in Phoenix in 2012.

ALL JFTS CONCERTS ARE FREE and open to the public and all donations received will benefit local and international humanitarian causes.
